Purpose
The ABO Blood Grouping Test determines a person’s blood type based on the ABO and Rhesus (Rh) systems. The test helps with safe blood transfusions, pregnancy monitoring, organ transplants, and diagnosing hemolytic diseases.
To provide a comprehensive analysis, this test panel includes:
- ABO Grouping – Determines A, B, AB, or O blood type
- Rh Grouping – Identifies whether you are Rh positive or negative
- Rhesus Phenotyping – Analyzes specific antigens (D, C, c, E, e) on red blood cells
- Rhesus Titre – Measures the level of Rh antibodies, especially important during pregnancy to detect or prevent hemolytic disease of the newborn
Doctors recommend this test during routine checkups, pre-surgical procedures, pregnancy, or when preparing for blood transfusion or organ donation.
Patient Preparation
No special preparation is required for this test.
Samples

Reference Range
A, B, O, or AB positive samples.
Results Turnaround
Within 24 hours after sample collection.
Diseases / Diagnostic indicators
The Blood Group Test is essential for determining blood and organ donor compatibility, ensuring safe transfusions and organ transplants. Doctors commonly perform this test for expectant mothers to assess Rh compatibility with their unborn child and for newborns to prevent hemolytic disease of the newborn.
This test is also useful in diagnosing blood-related conditions and ensuring compatibility for bone marrow transplants. For further study, visit this study.
