Purpose
Red Blood Cell Autohemolysis test measures the extent to which red blood cells haemolyse after 48 hrs at body temperature, without any additives.
Patient Preparation
There are no special requirements for this test. The physician will however enquire about any medication or supplements being taken.
Samples
4.0 ml of defibrinated blood collected in a plain tube (red top). Sample should be swirled with glass beads to aid in defibrination. Sample should be processed within 24 hrs.
Reference Range
The test report will include an interpretive comment.
Results Turnaround
3-5 days after sample collection.
