Dental floss is advantageous for DNA testing as it is non invasive, can be used in the absence of an individual, is meant for a single user hence a single profile is guaranteed and has a relatively high success rate (~75%). However, it does not yield as much genetic material as standard samples like blood or buccal swabs and is prone to contamination.
1. Use a dry paper towel or gloves to pick up the floss(avoid contact with fingers).
2. Obtain the razor using a paper towel or gloves, avoid contact with fingers.
3. The floss should not contain moisture.
4. The floss should be recently used.

6. Label accordingly (name, collection date, relationship).
7. Send it to the laboratory for analysis.
