BLOOD FOR DNA TESTING

At least 3 ml of blood should be collected in a lavender top EDTA tube. The samples should be properly labelled with the name of the participant, date of birth and test ID. Samples should be refrigerated and shipped with cold pack by overnight courier. Samples can be stored at room temperature if they will arrive in the lab less than 36 hours after blood draw Blood samples are stable at 4 degrees Celsius for longer than a week

Blood can also be collected as dried blood spots using FTA collecting cards as described here

If it is not possible to get blood samples, other non-standard samples can be submitted as shown here.

Acceptable DNA Samples
