Doctors prescribe this test to help manage urinary tract infections (UTIs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The test confirms a UTI diagnosis and often accompanies a urinalysis to verify the presence of white blood cells or bacteria. It also identifies the best antibiotic to treat the infection and helps evaluate how well the antibiotic treatment is working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Laboratory technicians culture the urine sample in an appropriate medium and incubate it. They then examine the medium for bacterial growth.
